Aya de Cauville was born in 2009 from a shared passion between a mother and her daughter for art, creation and manual labor. Two generations unite to create clothing, accessories, furniture and decoration.
Crafting a Cross-Cultural Tapestry
Our brand is the result of a meeting between the West and Africa, where fabrics, colors and styles mingle. Our story began almost by chance, with two sewing machines stored in a corner of the garage and some fabrics found at the bottom of a closet. Our ambition was clear: to create an Ivorian ready-to-wear brand, made in Ivory Coast, for the Ivorians and the rest of the world. A brand that would highlight our culture, artisanal know-how and the authenticity of creation.
Rebirth after Chaos
In 2011, during political unrest, our workshop was looted, leaving us without financial resources. With the help of our tailor, we started from scratch at the end of 2012, installed on the family terrace. We reinvested every fruit of our sales in fabrics and then in sewing machines. These difficulties encountered have strengthened our fighting spirit and our perseverance.
Establishing Roots
In 2014, we were finally able to rent a premises to make our workshop, which allowed us to recruit and organize our production, thus forming a team with whom we continually train in search of quality and efficiency.
A New Chapter
Since September 2019, we have been installed in a new, larger premises, which allowed us to open our first store in December of the same year. Our team is composed of six women and five men, all passionate about creation and devoted to our vision.
Origins
Our inspiration is drawn from our culture, our traditional fabrics and everything around us. We aim to create our own fabrics to stand out. We started by learning to dye cotton and synthetic fabrics in order to personalize our creations. For our latest "Origins" collection, we collaborated with weavers to create woven loincloths displaying our unique patterns and colors. It was paramount for us to highlight the richness of traditional weaving, meticulous work that deserves to be celebrated.
A Vision for the Future
As part of our development, we want to extend our distribution network, increase our production capacity and conquer the world. But above all, we aspire to shine in Africa, particularly in Ivory Coast, and to participate in the blossoming of African fashion worldwide. We also attach great importance to our social impact. By providing dignifying and respectful work to our team, we contribute to their well-being and that of their families.
